Is the touchpad not working properly on your HP/Lenovo/Dell/Acer/Asus laptop running Windows 10? Are you unable to move the mouse cursor with the touchpad? Cannot perform left and right clicks using the touchpad? In this guide, we will show you how to make your Windows 10 laptop touchpad work again.
Since the touchpad is not working on your PC, you will have to connect an external mouse or use keyboard shortcuts to follow the solutions in this article.
Restart your PC
Before trying out other solutions, it’s a good idea to restart your PC once. The thing is, sometimes, all you need to do is restart your PC to make the touchpad work again.
For instance, on my ThinkPad, touchpad stops responding at times. I simply restart the laptop to get the touchpad working again.
Since the touchpad is not working, use keyboard shortcuts to reboot the PC. Simultaneously press Windows logo and X keys to see the power user menu, press U key to see all power options, and then press R to restart your PC.

Check if the touchpad is disabled
Like in earlier versions, one could disable the touchpad in Windows 10 as well. So, unless you are very sure, it’s worth checking if the touchpad is disabled.
The option to enable or disable the touchpad is under mouse settings (mouse properties). You can also check touchpad settings (not in Windows 10’s settings).
Refer to our 3 ways to enable/disable touchpad in Windows 10 guide for directions.
Disconnect external mouse
You can skip this solution if you are not using an external mouse with your laptop.
There is an option in Windows 10 which allows you to automatically turn off the touchpad once an external mouse is connected. Simply unplug the external mouse once to check if the touchpad starts working.
Between, you can turn off the option under Settings:
Run Steam, and verify the game cache of the games you want to fix.8. Move the steamapps folder back in your new Steam installation folder.7.
Step 1: Navigate to Settings > Devices > Touchpad.
Step 2: Turn on Leave touchpad on when a mouse is connected option.
Restore Windows 10 to a previous date
If the touchpad was working till a few days ago, you might be able to make it work again (unless it’s a hardware issue) by restoring Windows 10 to a previous date when the touchpad was functioning properly.

Restore the old version of the touchpad driver
If the touchpad stopped working after updating its driver to the latest version, you could try restoring the previous version of the driver. It’s easy. Here is how to do that.
Step 1:Right-click on the Start button and then click Device Manager.
Step 2: Expand Mice and other pointing devices to see your touchpad entry. If you cannot see the entry, it’s likely because the touchpad hardware is not working, or the driver is not installed.
Step 3:Right-click on the touchpad entry and then click Properties.
Step 4: Switch to the Driver tab. Click Roll Back Driver button to restore the previous version of the driver.
Reinstall the touchpad driver
If nothing helps, reinstalling the touchpad driver should fix the issue. Here is how to do that.
Step 1: Open the Device Manager by right-clicking on the Start button on the taskbar and then clicking Device Manager option.
Step 2: In the Device Manager, expand Mice and other pointing devices. Note down the touchpad name and model.
Step 3:Right-click on the touchpad entry and then click Uninstall device option.
Step 4: When you see the following dialog, select Delete the driver software for this device option. Click Uninstall button to uninstall the touchpad driver.
Step 5: After uninstalling the touchpad driver, reboot your PC once.
Step 6: Download the latest version of the touchpad driver from your PC manufacturer’s website and then run the setup file to install the driver.
Your touchpad should start working now.
Run the diagnostics tool by your OEM
All laptop manufacturers offer hardware diagnostics software to scan and check for hardware issues. Contact your laptop manufacturer to download the diagnostics software.
I was using my laptop and it was working fine then I closed the lid for several minutes to do something and it went to sleep. When I opened it up the keyboard wouldn’t work at all. I’ve tried all the buttons the only one that works is the Power button. Finally, I used the on-screen keyboard to log in. My laptop is a fairly new Acer Aspire laptop I don’t understand why the keyboard suddenly won’t work.
The keyboard is a very vulnerable component on the laptop. Problems might occur on a laptop keyboard due to various reasons. You will not be able to type or even unlock your laptop when the keyboard is not working. Although you can temporarily open the on-screen keyboard or connect an external keyboard to type, you may feel not comfortable without the laptop's in-built keyboard. But don't worry. Usually, it's an easy problem to fix. Here are four fixes you can try if your Acer Aspire laptop keyboard is not working in Windows 10.
Fix 1: Restart your Acer Aspire laptop
Many computer problems can be solved by a simple restart. If your Acer Aspire laptop's keyboard suddenly cannot work, restarting the laptop may fix your problem. To restart your laptop, you can click Start > Power > Restart using your mouse if you are already logged in Windows 10. Or you can first shut down your laptop by holding down the Power button for about 10-15 seconds and then turn it on again. After your laptop restarts, try to type on your keyboard to see if it works.
Fix 2: Remove the laptop's battery
If your Acer Aspire laptop's keyboard is still not working after laptop restarts, try this:
1. Shut down your laptop completely using the Power button and unplug your laptop.
2. Take the battery out of your laptop. Typically, turn the laptop over and slide the battery release latch, and then slide the battery out.
3. Leave the battery out for a minute or two. This will let the laptop refresh itself.
4. Then put the battery back into your laptop.
5. Turn on your Acer Aspire laptop and after it starts to check if the keyboard works.
Fix 3: Reinstall keyboard drivers
The problem that your Acer Aspire laptop's keyboard stops working is possibly caused by the keyboard drivers. You can check it out by simply accessing the BIOS menu.
Start or restart your Acer Aspire laptop and keep pressing the F2 key on your keyboard to open the BIOS menu. If you are able to open the BIOS menu and use the arrow keys to navigate, then we can assume the problem is with the software part and not the hardware part. Then it is time to reinstall the keyboard drivers.
1. Login in Windows 10, if you haven't done so yet.
2. Open Device Manager by right-clicking on the Win button and then selecting the Device Manager from the menu.
3. Then you will see your laptop's keyboard under Keyboards. Typically, it is a PS/2 Keyboard. Right-click on your keyboard and select Uninstall. If you are not sure which is your laptop's keyboard, you can uninstall all the keyboards.
4. After you uninstall the keyboard driver, restart your laptop.
5. After your laptop restarts, check if the driver is installed automatically. If not, again open Device Manager, then right-click on Keyboards and select Scan for hardware changes to install it. After the driver is installed, the keyboard should start working normally.
Fix 4: Disable Filter keys
If suddenly you can't type on your Acer laptop's keyboard, or if you notice a short lag from the time you press a key and a character is displayed on the screen, then it is possible that Filter Keys are set due to improper operation. It's likely that enabling Slow Keys and Repeats Keys cause your Acer Aspire laptop's keyboard to stop working or not responding for a long time. If so, disabling Filter Keys may fix your problem. To disable Filter Keys in Windows 10, open Settings and go to Ease of Access, then select Keyboard and then turn off the Filter Keys.

As per the issue description some of your function keys are not working as it should be. Download dead island 2 pc completo. The issue could be if the drivers are either corrupted or need to be updated. This could also be if there is some dust particles between the keys. So, I would suggest you to clean the keyboard and check the difference.
Try to follow the steps provided below and see if it helps you to fix the issue.
Method 1: Try Hardware and devices troubleshooter
The hardware and devices troubleshooter can detect and fix errors and incorrect settings in devices. You can run the built in troubleshooter in Windows 8 and check by following these steps:
a) Press Windows Key + X, select control panel
b) Change the ‘view by’ option on the top right to ‘Larger icons’
c) Select the Troubleshooting option and click ‘view all’ on the left panel
d) Run the ‘Hardware and devices ‘troubleshooter.
Method 2
If issue persists, the issue could also be related to the device drivers and other updates. I want to inform you that updates will be released by Microsoft. So, I would suggest you to keep checking your Windows updates not only important one but optional too. If any available try to install them and see if it helps you to fix the issue.
Try to install all of the Windows updates available and if issue persists, try to update the Device (Keyboard) drivers by following the steps provided in the article mentioned below.
If issue still persists, then install the drivers for Windows 8/8.1 from the manufacturer's website in compatibility mode and check if that works.
